If you have estate planning questions, then you have undoubtedly at least pondered the question: are real estate planning lawyers needed? The good news is, in many cases and for many people, there may be no need for the help of estate planning lawyers to arrange your financial affairs. There are, of course, many people who will require estate planning lawyers, so it really is a yes, no, or it depends type of answer.
In particular, the state you live in will have a considerable say in whether you will require an estate planning lawyer to draft documents, set up a power of attorney designation, and prepare other out-of-probate arrangements.
The bottom line is, if you find out what forms you need (and an attorney will be happy to help you with this information and let you decide how to proceed), and your state offers the necessary provisions (e.g. Transfer on Death deeds, etc.), then you can likely handle your estate planning affairs and arrangements yourself. Of course, there is always the benefit of having someone else expend the time, energy, and effort, but like your estate affairs, the choice is yours in the end.
